Couples Therapy

Compatibility is overrated. What’s required is unity. Unity doesn’t mean you’re the same. It means you’re together.

~Dr. John Gottman

You were in love, once…

But now it’s less love and more fighting, frustration, and anger.  You don’t really talk; you lead parallel lives.  You exist together in the same home, but there’s no connection.  You go to work, you take care of the kids.  You both go through the motions, but it feels like you’re walking on eggshells.  You don’t want to fight anymore.  You do what you can to keep the peace.

You don’t know where the love went.

Or maybe you do.  You know exactly what went wrong, but you can’t get to where you want to be or even back to where you were.  You seem to be drifting further and further apart.  It’s like you can’t understand each other anymore.  You’re on opposite ends, screaming, trying to be heard, to be seen.  Only…no one is listening.  And you feel so alone, even when you’re lying right next to them.

Do you stay? Do you go?

You’re not even sure what you want anymore.  All you know is that it can’t continue like this.  I can help you to find the answers you need.  Whether you move forward together or alone, counseling can give you the tools you need to work through the challenges.
